Les selectionnés Japonais ..Sélection Japon U-17

Japan Under-17 coach Hiroshi Jofuku on Monday announced his squad for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, slated for August 18 to September 9 in Korea Republic.

The 21-member squad mainly consists of players who play for J. League youth teams and high school teams, but also includes Yoichiro Kakitani who plays for J. League Division Two side Cerezo Osaka.
They will get together on Wednesday for a preparation camp in Shizuoka before flying to Busan, Korea Republic.

Making their first appearance in the tournament since 2001, Japan will play Haiti on August 19 and Nigeria on August 22, both at Gwangyang Stadium in Gwangyang, near Busan, before moving to Seoul to play France at Goyang Stadium near Seoul on August 25 in Group D.
“I've selected the players who are capable of implementing our style of football, which involves lots of running and quick use of the ball,” Jofuku said. “The most important thing is to show what we can do 100 percent as a team and as individuals.”
Jofuku added, “Over the last two and a half years, we haven't had any games where we were unable to play our own brand of football, so I hope we can win as many games as possible.
In the biannual tournament, 24 teams are divided into six groups of four and the top two
finishers and best four third-place teams from the group stage will advance to the Round of 16, slated for August 29-30.
The quarterfinals will be held on September 1-2 and the semifinals will take place on September 5-6. The final and the third-place playoff will be staged on September 9 at Seoul World Cup Stadium.
