Haitians land in Alligator Pond, Manchester

KINGSTON, Jamaica—The Manchester Police have reported that a number of Haitians arrived by boat at the Alligator Pond beach Tuesday evening.
The boat was seized by the police. It is not known how many Haitians arrived or whether any are inmates who escaped in a mass prison break in Haiti on Monday.
Earlier Wednesday head of the Marine Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police, James Golding, told OBSERVER ONLINE that no Haitians had so far reached Jamaica’s shores in relation to the prison break.
He said that his team was “on the lookout” for any signs of Haitians approaching the island.
Reports are that some 329 prisoners escaped from the Croix-des-Bouquets in Haiti on Monday with many believed headed for the Dominican Republic and Jamaica.
